Abstract


SEMIOLOGIC ANALYSIS OF IMAGES THAT USED IN WORLD WAR II PROPAGANDA POSTERS “USA EXAMPLE”

Graphic design, is a branch of art that is blended into the cultural technical and artistic structure. As for poster design is the most aesthetic and economical way of conveying information or message on paper or similar materials using various printing techniques. Undoubtedly, the aim of poster design is to bring the efficiency of communication to the highest level by combining visual aesthetics like other art branches. The poster is so cheap that it can reach a large number of people both indoors and outdoors and its production and distribution is cheaper than other visual communication media, causing that institutions, associations and political parties prefer to transmit their messages through poster. Propaganda posters, prepared for the public to draw attention to certain topics, to create awareness and to make changes in attitudes and habits within a certain understanding, have become indispensable means of communication for institutions and individuals. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine examples of the visual content and purposeful appeal of posters widely used for propaganda purposes. The study consist of II. World War USA propangada posters which are used for propaganda purposes in United States institutions. The posters examined as an example in the study were used for propaganda purposes by the american institutions during World War II.
