In social life, the traditional and patriarchal social structure attributes various meanings to individuals. It is not possible to state that feminine and masculine gender roles are assumed equal. Hence, this study aims to determine the attitudes and perceptions of academicians on gender. In this context, the study population consisted of the academicians working at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. The data were obtained by applying the socio-demographic information form, the Gender Perception Scale, the Traditional Beliefs on Family and Marriage Scale and the Patriarchal Beliefs on Marriage Scale to academicians working at various departments. The data were tested by independent samples t-test for two groups and one-way analysis of variance. According to the results, it was generally observed that the gender perception scores of the participants were above the average. It was found that widespread perception is on the axis of gender equality. However, there were differences according to their gender, department and place of birth.
