Today, Istanbul is one of Turkey's largest city and the world. It is the capital city of culture and art in Turkey. Istanbul has hosted many civilizations in the past and has become an important cultural city under the influence of these civilizations. Perhaps the most important of these was the Byzantine Civilization, which shaped the Ottoman and Turkish culture to a great extent. This civilization has influenced the Turkish culture significantly in the fields of architecture, housing and furniture use, especially in the direction of daily life characteristics, and has also been influenced by Turkish culture. In this respect, it will be useful to examine what the Byzantine civilization gained in terms of architectural space and design history. From the establishment of Byzantium until the conquest of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, every event in Byzantine in daily life affected the interior and furniture use. The characteristics of Byzantine Civilisation related to space and furniture design and daily life have been restored with “Byzantine Revival” in the 19th century first time and in the 20th century second time and its effects on contemporary designs continue.
