Güneydoğu Anadolu bölgesinde yer alan Batman ili ekonomik açıdan farklı özelliklere sahip olan bir ildir. Batman ili ekonomisinin temel dayanağını tarım, hayvancılık ve petrol oluşturmaktadır. Batman ilinin mevcut durumu incelendiğinde az gelişmiş bir il görünümünde olsa da, sahip olduğu ekonomik gelişme potansiyeli ile bölgedeki diğer illerden ayrışmaktadır. Bu nedenle bu çalışmada Batman ili farklı ekonomik yönlerden değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu sayede ilin mevcut ekonomik durumu hakkında bilgi sahibi olunmak istenmiştir. Yaptığımız değerlendirmeler sonucunda Batman ilinin ekonomik verilerinin genel olarak geçmişe kıyasla olumlu bir seyir gösterdiği, buna karşılık sahip olduğu ekonomik potansiyeli tam anlamıyla kullanamadığı görülmektedir.
Batman, located in southern-east part of Turkey, is a city which has different economic potentials. Even though when we look at its current situation it looks like an underdeveloped city, it differs from the cities in the region with the economic qualities it has. Batman’s economy essentially relies on agriculture, stock-breeding and petroleum. Batman city has economic potential that no other cities in the region has. Therefore Batman city is examined in detail to get better idea about city’s economic potential. In the end of our evaluations, we figured that economic figures of Batman city indicate improvements compared to the past, however it seems it still doesn’t use its potential fully.
